Savemore Foundation
A health talk is the least expensive thing we do. It needs a gathering, someone who knows the subject, and time. That is all.
Treatment is a different matter. For a household that is already choosing between a school cost and a meal, a serious illness is not only frightening — it is financially unsurvivable. Everything else the household was holding together comes apart at the same time.
Where we hold them
We hold sessions where the community already is: after a church service, at a school, at a food distribution. Asking people to travel to a health talk filters out exactly the households that most need to hear it.
- Delivered in the language of the community
- Built around the questions people bring, not a prepared lecture
- Timed around the illnesses that are actually circulating
- Short enough to fit into a gathering that is already happening
It protects the rest of our work
When a family avoids a serious illness, it keeps its income, its children stay in class, and it does not fall back into the situation that brought us to the door in the first place. Our four programmes are not four separate efforts. They hold each other up.
